Do both you and your wife photograph the wedding?
Yes, Mandy and I both shoot every wedding (God willing). Typically I will shoot the “getting ready” portion of the day and the formal photos while she keeps me on task and on time. We both shoot the ceremony and reception (where we are always looking for those fun dance shots!).
Are there any hidden fees that we should be worried about?
Nope. You have enough stress when planning a wedding, so we try to be as simple as possible with our packages and pricing structure. We include 80 round-trip miles with all of our packages. We don’t hold any photos back hoping to “up-sell” after the wedding. The only extras are sales tax, and we do ask to be included in the meal count.
What do you think is important when choosing a wedding photographer?
Pictures and personality. Ask to view some full weddings to see if you like their photographs. See if their work matches your vision of what you want your pictures to look like. Also, you are going to be with your photographer on one of the best (and let's be honest, a bit stressful) days of your life. Your wedding photographer has to be someone you don’t mind spending that day with and someone who can put you at ease in front of the camera.
When do I pay?
We require a 50% deposit and a signed contract when you decide to secure the date. The remaining balance is due anytime up to the day of the wedding.
How long do formal pictures take?
That really depends on the number of locations and combinations you are looking for, but typically we can cover the Family Formals, Wedding Party, and Couple pictures in an hour or so (roughly 20 minutes for each portion). This is provided that you have an average-sized list of combinations and there is not any travel time between photos (and that you can pry Uncle Henry away from the bar in a short amount of time for his family picture).
How long have you been in business?
We shot our first wedding together in 2009 and have been loving it ever since.
How would you describe your photography?
Flexible. We really do try to adjust our shooting style according to your day. If you have a rustic wedding, I am going to try to shoot with a softer, more rustic feel in mind. If you have a big techno dance party, I am going to try to shoot in a way that reflects that. And if you have a techno dance party in a barn, I’ll do my best... More than anything, we try to shoot in a timeless manner. We worry that if we shoot photographs that are too “trendy” (like putting a tilt and rainbow effect on every picture), you may look at your pictures 10 years from now and wonder what the heck was going on with our cameras. Our goal is to give you photographs that you can enjoy decades later and remember every moment with joy.
Can I give you examples and a shot list?
Absolutely! We especially want to get a detailed list of Family Formals. We also welcome a list and/or examples of what you like in Wedding Party and Couple pictures. We likely won't (and shouldn’t) duplicate your entire Pinterest board, but we want to know what pictures catch your eye.
What equipment do you use?
We use high-end Nikon cameras, lenses, and flashes. We carry backup equipment with us as well as off-camera lighting.
Are you insured?
Yep. And we would be happy to send our insurance information to your venue if they ask for it.
